Exclusive Stag Weekend - not drunk Englishmen...

Hello everyone -

I am organising a stag weekend in July for 10 guys. I read a lot about Sofia nightlife being fun, but I haven%26#39;t found any specific information. Can anyone help with the following questions –

- What are the more exclusive (not over the top!) clubs? No nouveau-riche Russian clubs with exorbitant prices, but clubs where locals go to?

- What is the price of a bottle of Wodka/Champagne in such clubs?

- Are there good stripbars (not brothels!!). No rip-offs as you might find in Riga, just simple and fun places.

- Are there organizations that plan Gotcha/Paintball or similar outings?

Thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated.

I can probably help.

Plenty and plenty of discos, (careful when asking for clubs here). I%26#39;ve yet to run into a disco that had over the top prices. Those are generally reserved for certain piano bars and %26quot;Night Clubs%26quot; (essentially brothels).

Prices, for comparisons sake, some mates and I just spent a night out in what is considered the most happening club in Stara Zagora last weekend where we went through three bottles of Smirnoff and about 15 - 20 cans of Shark energy drink, (5 lev/2.50 euro a pop). With some other residual drinks thrown in, (beers, rakiya, etc.), the bill came to 208.00 leva, (104.00 euro). Prices won%26#39;t be too far off that in Sofia. If you want premium liquor like scotch%26#39;s or certain imported beers, expect to pay same as anywhere else in Europe.

Most strip bars function as brothel%26#39;s it just depends how %26quot;in your face%26quot; the staff is and how expensive the drinks are. I know of a few good ones where you probably can stay out of trouble with 10 guys.

Don%26#39;t know of any companies that arrange events as such, but there is paintball in Sofia and can get the contact details if you wish.

Cheers

Hello Sicco,

I thing I could help you with organizing a stag weekend. We could arrange various daytime and nightlife activities in Sofia like go-karting, paintball, target shooting, bungee jumping, off-road etc. Our packages include folklore dinner and a nightclub visit.

Please take a look at sofiacitytour.com or write me on contact@sofiacitytour.com about the activities you are interested in.

Looking forward to your comments.

Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.

I heard that Sofia is a bit like Rome in the summer, meaning that many/most locals leave for the beachside. Any truth in this? We are planning to come out in the last July-weekend.

Cheers again,

Sicco

Yes, it will certainly be a bit quieter, but not as bad as some of the other cities, or if you were to visit in August.

I remember walking through Plovdiv on an incredible Saturday afternoon last August wondering where all the people were as there was hardly anyone out shopping and such.

By midnight, the clubs had enough patrons in to make for a fun night.

Cheers

I was in Sofia for 3 nights and plan to go back tomorrow as I am in the mountains right now. I barely saw any tourist. I felt like the only tourist around. But I am coming back for the weekend and see how is the party like.
