Hotel Alba, Sunny Beach -- where to eat with kids and prices

My wife is staying presently at the hotel Alba in Sunny Beach (Burgas) Bulgaria. She%26#39;s complained to me about a number of issues and it was surprising. She said that smoking is allowed everywhere in the hotel (including the rooms), and the staff is unable to communicate in English adequately except for the reception desk staff. Also, she has said that the bottled water in that particular hotel is 20 levs (is that possible, or is it just the %26quot;friendly%26quot; staff saying so?!), a %26quot;happy meal%26quot; in the nearby Macdonald%26#39;s is 11 levs (we hardly ever go to Macdonald%26#39;s but this was the closest place where they got to after their red-eye flight. Anyway, I%26#39;m actually not complaining but rather am searching for some advice from people who have recently stayed at Sunny Beach regarding the prices, where to exchange the currency, and most importantly, where to go with children (4 year old) and where to eat with children without spending an %26quot;arm-and-a-leg%26quot; for a meal. It seems to me that Bulgaria is not exactly Paris or Moscow, although it is a tourist attraction, to be charging Moscow%26#39;s and Paris%26#39;s rates? That just can%26#39;t be...

This is amazing 20 levs for water, I think the staff are trying to have a joke, a small bottle of water is less than 1 lev large bottle @ 2lev. If you come out of the alba turn right there is a little supermarket directly infront of you. As for food there are loads of nice places to eat that are definately alot cheaper than McDonalds, Try DJannys, there menu is huge. If you ask the guys on the DVD stall diagnal from the Alba on the right, they are wto great guys who i have known for many years, they will happily point you in the direction. The Cafe del Mar attached to the hotel does some nice food and a delicious Nescafe Frappe. Sunny beach is like every resort, there are very expensive places and very reasonable ones, you just need to explore. Hope this helps

Think you%26#39;ll find that McDonalds is about the dearest food in SB. Try the one in Bourgas and you%26#39;ll find things at half the price.

As stated earlier, Djanny%26#39;s, Condor and Faro all in around market area offer very good value meals.

Buying anything in hotels is expensive but I%26#39;ve never heard of a 20 lev bottle of water.

Currently shops have small biottle at 70 stotinkis and a large about 1.60 lev.

Best place to exchange money is the banks opposite Hotel Kuban, current rate is 2.42.
