Help!!! All these rumours are making me nervous!

Guys

Been on several forums to get the low down on Sunny Beach before i go (as i do with every trip).

I am not 100% sure what i have let myself in for. I have visions in my head of this place where thieves, prostitutes and gangsters run wild, robbing innocent tourists for what ever they can. Its supposed to be my honeymoon and don%26#39;t not want to take pictures/camcorder incase its stolen/robbed from me. I want to go out to eat and drink, knowing i will make it safe back to my hotel. But honestly, i am having problems seeing past all the negativity, can anyone help??!!

I am staying at the Barcelo, can anyone advise if this is in the mix of things or is it in the quieter end? Is it safe to wander the streets at night in the surrounding area? Honestly, i am gutted that i have looked into this as much as i have, but i am worried that i may get into trouble as i do have a %26quot;short-temper%26quot; and don%26#39;t like to be ripped off or have my family threatened.

Thanks Guys - as always.

Hi we have been going to Sunny Beach for a while now as we have property over there

there are prostitutes and muggers there but you will find them all over the world, so dont worry and have a good time

Hi, we have property in Sunny Beach also. Yes there are probably theives and muggers but not the extent that you have been told. If you hang around the allyways with fancy jewellery and cash pouring out of every pocket then yes you more than likely will get robbed, heck Id probably rob ye.

We have been several times and have never had any problems, even a hint of a problem, if you act sensibly. The Bulgarian people in general are very friendly and helpful, but as everywere you would be best advised to agree a price with the driver before taking a taxi.

Enjoy yourself, its a great wee part of the world!

Jimbo16,

Read my review of Royal Barcelo on today%26#39;s post it is under the heading Royal Barcelo! Stops me repeating myself.

You have picked a quieter end, basically I have found the end with all the posh 5 star hotels is quieter but busy, the middle is really busy and noiser and then as you leave the middle and head towards Royal Barcelo it gets quieter again. It%26#39;s a nice hotel and a good location.

ENJOY.

Hi, go and enjoy it. As in any strange place be wary. As you would anywhere. Barcelo looks a top notch hotel(ours was a little one in the shade of it!). On your way from your hotel turn left and when you see bar with tartan tablecloths...go in...1 lev a pint! Try Djannis restaurant. Its across main junction at top of flower st, past the market. It really is a top nosh place but still unbelievably cheap. Cheaper eateries are away from the seafront. Lovely beach and warm sea for swimming. Change your money in the banks. These are located on upper end of flower street, going away from beach, past the corner bar. It was our first time and we got good advice from fellow travellers on here. It won%26#39;t be our last visit!

Kind Regards.
