Best place to order some Levs before we go to sunny beach

Hi, need some more advice. We do not go to sunnybeach until 1st Aug but I want to be prepared. does anyone know the best place or bank to order some levs. We are taking our flex cards so would only need a small amount. Also can you get levs in small denominations of 1 and 2 lev notes here. Would prefer this to 50 lev notes as we would be using the small notes to use toilets, to tip, buses and for the supermarket. Trying to figure out best way to mangage my money. Many thanks.

Hi, if you are going with a tour operator and being transferred by bus to your hotel - you will need very little lev before going and in fact, can get away with about 20 lev prior to going - the twenty would cover incidentals, tip for porter, etc. Once you are there, Crown exchanges are everywhere every couple minutes walk and you will get the best rate from these. If you are stuck your hotel will have an exchange booth - but rate is less. We exchanged money at the airport - the smallest amount appeared to be 20 lev but you can always get a bottle of water at the airport in order to break it for what you need. By the way, very few places actually charge to use the toilets - these seem to be mostly bars that are on the beach and don%26#39;t have facilities themselves (share outside with other bars)

Post office will exchange but current rate is only about 2.25, as will M%26amp;S.

Hi, taxi from bourgas to sunny beach is about 60 lev - but make sure you agree the fare BEFORE you get into the taxi - most taxi%26#39;s have the fares listed on a paper on the back window - however confirm the price before getting in. Food basics in shops are very reasonable for basics - 1 lt cartons of real juice 3.5 lev, lrg water bottle 2.5 lev, very small selection of breads or rolls, (note we only used local small market shops on sunny beach - there are hypo markets which we did not find) If you arriving at a reasonable time - you can exchange money on sunny beach at the crown exchanges - or banks however if exchanging at banks you will need your passport - do not use other exchange booths - there are some that say western union - these are not affiliated with western union and do not exchange with guys on the street - they will appear almost as if they are working for crown and will offer you a good rate - but you will either get old useless lev or counterfeit.

GeraldineW,

Myself and my girlfriend are also going ot Sunny Beach on 1 Aug (and 7th July too!) to our apartment at Sunny Beach Hills (behind Majestic Hotel. What we do is have about 100 Lev with us and take sterling over to SB and exchange at the CROWN booths or if you are still a bit unsure then go into a bank and excahnge money there. You get a better rate in SB than you do in the UK.

Just make sure you have a safe to keep your sterling in and only take out waht you want to use for that day....that is just common sense.

Enjoy.
