Hi There, I%26#39;m not sure where you%26#39;ve been reading but if you go thru%26#39; the reports/comments on this forum you will see 100 positive comments for every bad one.
Loads of us have been going to SB for a number of years without any mishaps, possibly because we follow the sound advice given to people on the forums.
Lets look at the complaints which have surfaced.
%26quot; I was mugged on the beach late at night %26quot;.
If you go onto the beach in the wee small hours of the morning with pretty young girls ( could be Bulgarian, Russian, Romanian etc ) then you derserve all you get. Most of these young things are professional pickpockets.
%26quot; I was ripped off by the bike taxi%26#39;s and threatened. %26quot;
I, along with loads of other members have warned people about these con men all summer. Yet people still get in them.
%26quot; Had my phone/money stolen on way to hotel %26quot;
What they didn%26#39;t mention was the fact they were worse for drink and alone. This type of mugging happens in EVERY resort I know of, but it doesn%26#39;t stop me going because I%26#39;m not as daft as some of the young lads who get legless.
%26quot; They stole my money/jewellery from hotel room %26quot;
Surely on holiday everyone knows to keep all their valuables locked away in either a safety deposit box or room safe. You wouldn%26#39;t go out and just leave them lying around.
%26quot; Got ripped off at a money changing booth %26quot;
I have always said only use a bank, hotel, or CROWN Exchange for changing money. Anything else is a rip off.
Going on any holiday is all about being sensible and 99% of people have no problem whatsoever.
I%26#39;m sure I speak for many members on the forum in saying go to SB and have a thoroughly enjoyable holiday as we do every year.

There are plenty of bars and clubs catering for all tastes.
A wide variety would be
Orange Disco- now has a retro 60%26#39;s section.
Fat Cat- All round family entertainment
Neptune- live music
Arizona- Ditto
Tony%26#39;s- Karaoke
Red Harp ( Nessebar ) Tradition Irish pub.
It can be very cheap to drink (PROVIDING ) you stay off the beach promenade bars where you will pay 3 to 4 lev a pint, whereas further back in the resort near the market you can go to places like Djanny%26#39;s, Condor, Fara, Billies Bistro and Sharkies and get a pint from 1 to 2 lev. ( lev is 42p )
Here is a link to some of the bars and clubs ( Age no barrier )

Hi,
Just flew in from sunny beach last night. Excellant holiday. Everything is as toonman says it is. Could not have felt more relaxed or safe. There for 3 weeks. Did not see any prostitutes or had any problems with pickpockets. I know of a couple who had trouble with the guys who drive the cycle taxis who agree a price and then get agressive and say the price is 50 leva when you reach your destination so beware!!!. no problem with taxis if you agree a price they stick to it but always ask first and you can haggle the price a small bit. Ate all types of food in the restaurants from chinese, italian ,steak etc had no problems. Best meal for us was the lamb sqewers in the Star inn restaurant up a 100 yards or so from the fat cat heading toward victoria palace end.If you ask for a well done steak in the restaurants you get it. Meal for a family of 4 with 4 large beers 2 cokes for the kids and main courses 60lev - 100lev depending where you go and thats on the strip, further back you will get it cheaper. Beer on strip 3-4 lev cocktails 10 lev but most places always on happy hour for cocktails 2 for the price of 1. As toonman says the further you go back from the strip the cheaper it becomes.As for safety the wife and kids are still out there so that would tell you how safe we felt out there. Apply the same rules out there as at home and you will have no trouble. If you are aproached to taste fruit or enter resturants etc just politely say no and they will leave you alone, no probs.
Hope this helps,
Enjoy your holiday,
Joc28.

Glad you had a good time. Your report will hopefully be a re-assurance to those thinking they%26#39;ve made the wrong choice in going to Bulgaria.
Seen a few reports now praising the quality of the Star Inn. Must give it a try when we go.
