just got back from sunny beach today again a warning

like a previous poster me and my mate were mugged leaving central bar on the main strip, i had 100 levas stolen and my mate 30, they are women who approach you asking if you want sex, they are not prostitutes but proffesional pick pockets!! also be aware if you use the bicycle taxis, they will try to rip you off and then threaten to call the mafia if you don%26#39;t pay

Hi Gary, Sorry to hear about your mishap. At least they didn%26#39;t get much. I presume this was early morning after a decent night out?

As for the bike taxi%26#39;s, I%26#39;m forever warning people of the utter stupidness of using these people.

As for the Mafia. I can assure you Mafia ain%26#39;t involved. They may own some of the property but thats because they want as many people there every year to make legitimate money ( or launder some )

The last thing they want is a ghost town which it may become unless these things stop.

I have to agree with Toonman the mafia are not going to get invloved in running people out of the place but unfortunate what happened to you. Its happening in alot of places but Sunny Beach has been so poor its easy money to these pickpockets.

Its a pity as so many of the people in Sunny Beach are very friendly.

Having been visiting Sunny Beach twice a year for the last ten years I am always intrigued to read of these reported cases of mugging in the resort.

I have NEVER in all these years heard of any person having been mugged.

THe main problem, which I know does happen,is girls on the streets approaching males, usually having had quite a few drinks and pickpocketing..I do not think of this as mugging. Some men/lads agree to accompany these girls on to the beach and then approached by burly minders who pretend to fine them on the spot.

Pickpockets also operate on the crowded buses especially between SB and Nessebar.

Please dont let these reports worry you and spoil your holiday. Keep your wits about you and use your common sense which is sensible advise wherever you are.
