Just came back from Sunny beach yesterday, did lots of reading other comments to gear myself up for a fab holiday. It was a great first couple of days but unfortunatly on the 3rd night we were robbed and left with no money, cameras or phones. We later were told the police out there are useless and its impossible to get a crime report number to claim on insurance, also discovered by asking around it is a very common occurance. I know you have to sensible anywhere you go but in this place you really need to have your wits about you - hence - dont have too many of their delicious cocktails!! I never thought it would happen to me but it did, and it put a downer on what could have been a fab holiday in such an action packed holiday. Note to other holidaymakers - please be extra extra careful!!

Very sorry to hear about your misfortune.
Where were you robbed? Was it late at night?
I%26#39;ve always warned people about taking all your money out with you. ( Not just in Bulgaria either ). Please only take out sufficient for your needs that evening, that way you won%26#39;t lose much if waylaid on your way back to the hotel.

Hi, Really sorry to hear what happened to you. What happened were you threatened or did you not see it coming. This is one thing that is worrying me, so I have bought a handbag with long strap and zip so I can easily keep my money close to me.

please dont carry all your money with you you would not be able to spend it anyway so why take it with you always be careful when on holiday anywhere

Hi, just got back after 2 week hol and never saw any probs at all. Police presence is good and as long as you stay in the main lit areas you should be OK. We have been 2 years running and not had one bad moment. We only took enough for one night of fun and made sure we split that between us. we also kept our valuables back in the hotel so we did not attract attention with too much bling etc. i would not suggest Bulgaria is any more unsafe than any other city centre you would find in the UK, just use common sense and your instincts.

oh i see were your comming from. they swarm the place praying on people. was it a gang of girls? saw lots of it while i was there. Also saw no police what so ever when i was there it happened mostly at night

That is really most unfortunate I hope you did your best to enjoy the rest of your time. So sorry to hear of your experience.
As Toonman has said previously
any future travellers--only take out what you need for the night and leave remainder in safe deposit box.
Don%26#39;t carry bank cards , passports.ect apart from anything they are easily lost
Withdraw cash sort out exchange and leave all ID and cards in safe.
I never carry handbags abroad-

When i was there in early June i never saw anything dodgy. Although for the first week it was kind of quieter. Got talking to a group of guys over there though, they said they had got robbed and jewelery stolen from one of the %26quot;ladies of the night%26quot;.
Would deffinately say its better for just a couple than for a big group.
No worse than over here though.
