Chaika Beach Hotel

Just recieved a letter from the travel agent that there was demolition behind the chaika beach and construction of new hotels is in progress. It says that under law all external works should stop from may15 etc. Does anyone know what the story with the building works are ?

Also, any feedback on the hotel itself ? We are heading off tomorrow week, may 30th.

hi mate we are staying at chieka park and towers just behind chieka beach this was once the galab and sakol hotels hope the work is finished we go june the 30th.

Kerro..Sounds like you ur an expert on this new development now??? Can%26#39;t wait to see you in July for an update1111

not an expert but worried now after reading above post booked with balkan and already told we fly to edinbrough from teesside onrout.

Balkan have been doing these %26#39;double touch%26#39; flights for years. We go flight only and dont use them anymore, going with Thomas cook this time. We have used XL airways for last 4years or so but for some reason they dont have a route from Manchester this season.

Just in relation to the hotel itself I stayed in the hotel last Sept with my husband ad it was perfect couldnt fault it at all , rooms were big and spacious the hotel is in a great location to everything perfect for beach , shopping

Found the staff friendly , we went half board as that was the only offer we had , food was ok I am not the best for food anyway on holidays but we ate out as it was so cheap

Have a look on victoriagroup.net/hotelchaika/en/welcome.htm

There is also some reviews on the tripadvisors website and photos

Hope this helps you enjoy your holidays

Just returned from 3 weeks in Sunny BEach. We went on 20th June, weather 28/30 throughout with only one heavy downpour. We always go at this time of year and have good weather...last year unusally hot...in the 40s.

F A O : sjpj

Am i safe taking my money out of the cash machines. Just a bit woried from some of the past bad reports thank you again.

Hi,

We used the cashpoints on a couple of occassions with no trouble, I can only speak of our experience but we were perfectly safe taking the money out, with even our 16 year daughter withdrawing money. We stayed at the majestic which had a cashpoint machine at the front of the hotel, and is out of the way of the hussle and bussle of the main strip. The Helena Rui also has a cashpoint. Again this is the quieter end. I have to say I had read all the reports before we went and had my concerns, however they were short lived once we arrived and felt perfectly safe. Just use yours common sense and instincts as you would in any uk city.

hope that helps and re-assures

Hi thank you for your responce. Sorry to keep harping on, we are staying ar the Riu Elvrica Hotel, do you know if there is a cash machine in the hotel or outside. thank you very much.

Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel Jimbo 16

Hi Jimbo16 the Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel is just set back off the sea front and is situated just North of the centre of Sunny Beach (the Kuban Hotel being the centre of Sunny Beach).

There are loads of bars, restaraunts and shops around the hotel and there is the main Sunny Beach Shopping Mall at the side of the hotel. Very expensive shops in the Mall. The Red Lion pub is I believe part of the Barcelo Royal Beach, live music, british beers, British food and a happy %26quot;hour%26quot; cocktails two for the price of one.

It looks a lovely hotel and has its own grounds ringed on the front with leylandi.

To walk the full length of the strip, the strip being the promenade and not the central strip that runs from the market area to the sea front would take a lot longer to walk than 15 minutes and it is full of bars, shops, restaraunts, hotels. fast food outlets and entertainment i.e. kids slides. archery stalls, shooting galleries etc etc.

The beach infront of the strip is golden sand and the sea shelves gently down. Two sunbeds and an umbrella are 18 levs, 6 levs each.

Just back from SB/ Barcelo Royal Beach is very nice and very central. Sorry sunbeds on beach 7levs each this year.

Thanks Guys! WelshLady...could you please give me a little more info on the hotel? I am there for my honeymoon in August with my wife (obviously!!!) and daughter (18mths). We have a 1 bedroom apartment, mainly so we can relax in the evenings whilst little one is a sleep. Are these nice? Any info you have about the hotel and its surrounding area would be greatfully received!

Many thanks

Hi Jimbo

Sorry Ive not stayed at the Royal Beach but as mentioned above it is in the centre. We walked past last week and they look great, in my opinion the best place in SB. There was security on the gate.

I have been in the adjoining shopping mall which opened last Summer.

I am sure you%26#39;ll have a great holiday.Dont forget a review when you return.

Hi Welshlady North Wales I must contradict your statement that sun bedas are 7 levs this year we were paying 6 levs for a sunbed this July 08 on the beach area directly in front of the Majestic. These prices were also stated on the beach information board for that stretch of the beach. I am not saying that you were not paying 7 levs on the stretch of beach you were on but it seems from what you are saying and what we were paying that there is a different pricing structure on different areas of Sunny Beach. This year we only went on the beach area in front of the Majestic. The moral here as in the price of beer shop around if you want to save yourselves some levs.

Sorry about that Maz. I didnt actually hire a beach bed during the 3 weeks we were there, I was only quoting what I was told by others.

I think YorkshireMaz answered most of your questions but as an owner of an apartment in the Royal Beach I can assure you there is plenty to do in and around the resort without needing to venture too far. There are every type of bar, restaurant, entertainment within 5 minutes of the royal beach and to top it off the beach is less than 2 minutes walk away. If you go to a search engine like google and type in royal beach bulgaria you will find a good site dedicated to the complex that shows photos, list of facilities etc. The name of the site is the 3 words listed above to put into the search engine. Enjoy your trip as I cant wait for my next visit in mid August.

Things to do in Sunny Beach

My boyfriend and i, and our neighbours have all but booked our 2 week holiday in Sunny Beach.

What can you recommend 2 young couples to do/see while we are there??

Well for starters thers, Go Karting, Para Gliding, ski jets, bungy jumping, Aquapark, nudist beach, boat trips( Lazy day cruise ) off roading, diving, clubs etc.

Is this enough to be going on with.

Toonman

well toonman .never realised i was on the nudist beach. until i sat down to take my trainers off unfortunatly was only three old guys on the beach at the time never saw the wife run so fast .lol the wife asked me to point out she was running away from. not to the beach.

Funny that, everybody says they never realised it was a nudist beach, despite all dangly bits hanging around.( LOL )

Toonman

I didnt know Sunny Beach was a nudist beach!!!!

It%26#39;s just a section away from the main part that is nudist. If you walk towards Nessebar along the beach past the Hotel Bourgas you will find it. There is no problem in walking past or joining in if you want, its cool actually.

mossy buggers

hi anyone have tips on mozzy bites im ok but the wife gets bitten to bits.got all the potions and lotions but which do you think is the best thankyou.

We used a jungle formula plug which seemed to be good (only got bit the first night and we hadn%26#39;t plugged it in yet!).

Avon skin so soft oil spray. Must be the green bottle.

Stella Artois!

Only works whilst drinking it!

Enjoy.

1Baloo

thanks for replys ire give the stella a miss lol

Im just back from sunny beach %26amp; my legs got covered in bites! :(

I got a cream with cortizone in it which was good for reducing the swelling %26amp; relieving the itch too.

As for prevention, iv heard taking garlic tablets a week or so before you go %26amp; while your out there helps because the mossys %26amp; insects can appearantly get the scent from your skin and stay away.(Pity i didnt know this before I went!) :-)

enjoy your hols!

Hi there. I am unfortunately a mosquito magnet. They love me! I have started taking B1 tablets [which you can get from any health shop or probably supermarket]. Take them around 3 weeks to a month before you go. Some people swear by them. Also Skin so Soft from Avon - the dry oil is also supposed to be really good. [green/blue coloured bottle]. Plug ins are a must, as are the citronella candles. [which can be put out on the balcony]. When going to bed try and sleep with all lights off and your window open. That way if any of the blighters are in the room - then they can escape. Plug ins repel mozzies you see, but don%26#39;t kill them. Autan is another good one - although the smell isn%26#39;t the best. Even a mozzie repelling wrist band is worth a thought. Mozzies are more active at dawn and dusk. So these are the prime times to watch out for. Although, they can be out at any time of the day. I sympathise totally with your wife. Bites are not pleasant. Hope all or any of the above help.

We have only been bitten once in past two weeks - we took B complex for two weeks before going and brought a couple of citronella candles to light on hotel balcony at night.

Best tip - add a couple drops of tea trea oil to your aftersun - they absolutely hate it. I%26#39;ve been doing this for years. Saw some people with many many bites but we have been very lucky - hope it helps

i add lemon grass to my suntan lotion and aftersun and the mossies hate it

Thankyou gorgeous-mac99-jo jo -sue mackey thanks for your advice maybe my wife will only get a few bites 2 years ago in turkey she was bitten 32 times 18 of them in 1 day . fingers crossed this july cheers

we used a boots plug in and kept in on all the time, the type with liquid in and also ciprenella oil you can get it from super drug ( its costs about £4) just put a couple of dabs on yr wrists and back of yr knees, we had no problems at all, hop this helps
